12.1 The Stone Becomes Architectural#
The main study used Christ as the Living Stone and believers as living stones, but an extended canonical line deserves preservation. Hebrews describes Abraham as looking for a city with foundations; Isaiah names a foundation Stone in Zion; Peter identifies Christ as the Living Stone and the chief Cornerstone; Paul describes the people built upon Him as a holy temple and habitation of God through the Spirit. The Stone is therefore not merely an image of stability. In these passages the Stone becomes architectural.
Hebrews 11:10
For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
Isaiah 28:16
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
1 Peter 2:4–6, 9
To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. ... But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Ephesians 2:19–22
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
CITY WITH FOUNDATIONS → FOUNDATION STONE → CORNERSTONE → LIVING STONES → SPIRITUAL HOUSE → PRIESTHOOD → HABITATION
Source trail: YHWH / Eternal Son / Melchizedek Discovery Conversation Source, p. 67, preserves the extended Stone-city synthesis as archival workspace evidence; Ephesians 2 and 1 Peter 2 remain the controlling proof.
12.2 Temple Language: Corporate, Personal, and Final#
The main study intentionally kept several temple statements together. This supplemental witness preserves the distinctions. Scripture can describe the gathered people corporately as God's temple, the individual believer's body as a temple of the Holy Ghost, Christ's own body as the temple raised in resurrection, and the final city as having no separate temple because God and the Lamb are its Temple. None of those statements requires the others to be erased.
John 2:19–21
Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body.
1 Corinthians 3:16–17
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
1 Corinthians 6:19–20
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Revelation 21:22
And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
The corporate house is made of living people; the Spirit truly indwells individuals; Christ is the resurrected Temple; and the final city requires no separate sanctuary building because God and the Lamb are its defining Temple reality. The whole can be called the Temple without denying that Scripture also names living constituent members of the dwelling.
12.3 Face, Name, Pillar, and City#
Numbers 6 already joins priestly blessing, the shining Face, grace, peace, and the placing of YHWH's Name upon the people. Later passages deepen each term. John 17 makes the Name known and asks that the people be kept in it. Paul speaks of the knowledge of God's glory in the face of Jesus Christ. Revelation joins Temple imagery, the New Jerusalem, the Name, Face, service, and reign.
Numbers 6:24–27
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.
John 17:6, 11, 26
I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world... Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are... And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
2 Corinthians 4:6
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 3:12
Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
Revelation 22:3–5
And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

12.4 Seal, Earnest, Formation, and Future Completion#
The Spirit-within promise is present possession, but Scripture also describes the Spirit as a seal and earnest of an inheritance that still moves toward redemption and glory. This preserves both sides of the study: God truly dwells in His people now, and the final open condition of resurrection, likeness, and face-to-face Presence remains future.
Ephesians 1:13–14
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 3:16–21
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
Romans 8:23, 29–30
And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body... For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
1 John 3:1–2
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

12.5 The Source Remains the Source#
The language of union, indwelling, image, glory, and reign can become imprecise if the Source-recipient distinction is lost. Scripture instead describes life as received and sustained. The branch abides in the Vine; the body remains under its Head; the river of life still proceeds from the throne of God and of the Lamb. The recipient becomes fruitful without becoming an independent fountain.
John 15:4–5
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Colossians 1:18
And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Revelation 22:1–2, 17
And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life... And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
The final glory is therefore not autonomy. The servants reign, but the throne remains the throne of God and of the Lamb. They bear His Name, but the Name remains His. They receive life freely, but the River continues to proceed from the Source.

12.6 Salt and Peace: Additional Covenant Witnesses#
A separate covenant cluster was intentionally left out of the main study so that the central argument would not become overloaded. It is worth preserving because priesthood, kingdom, permanence, peace, and dwelling appear in several distinct covenant statements before Psalm 110 brings King and Priest together in one enduring figure.
Numbers 18:19
All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer unto the LORD, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever before the LORD unto thee and to thy seed with thee.
2 Chronicles 13:5
Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
Numbers 25:12–13
Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace: And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.
Ezekiel 37:24–28
And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them... Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Psalm 110:1, 4
The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool... The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.
